Hamas Denies Israeli Claims of Ending Ceasefire, Accuses Israel of Violations and Fabrications

Amid escalating tensions and repeated Israeli airstrikes, Hamas calls on international mediators to pressure Israel into fully complying with the fragile Gaza truce while rejecting reports of ceasefire termination.

Hamas has emphatically denied Israeli claims that the ceasefire in Gaza has ended, accusing Israel of fabricating these assertions as a pretext for resuming military action. According to Hamas spokesman Izzat al-Rishq, reports that Hamas informed the US about the termination of the ceasefire are false. Instead, Hamas insists that it remains committed to the truce but condemns Israel for repeatedly violating the agreement, including advancing forces beyond the agreed boundaries known as the “yellow line” and carrying out airstrikes that have resulted in Palestinian casualties.

Since the ceasefire was established on October 10, 2025, the situation has remained volatile, with Israel conducting almost 500 violations of the truce over 44 days, including deadly airstrikes that have killed hundreds of Palestinians, many of them civilians and children. Israel asserts that many of its strikes are retaliatory, responding to attacks on its troops inside Gaza, such as gunfire incidents in Israeli-controlled areas. Israel also claimed that recent airstrikes eliminated five senior Hamas militants following such attacks.

Hamas, however, accuses Israel of exploiting minor ceasefire breaches as excuses to resume a broader campaign of violence and destruction. They have called on mediators, including the US, Egypt, and Qatar, to pressure Israel into respecting the ceasefire fully. Hamas further states that Israel’s repositioning and deepening control over more than half of Gaza’s coastal region effectively change the truce terms unilaterally, creating a de facto siege on northern Gaza.

Despite tensions and ongoing sporadic clashes, Hamas maintains that it seeks to uphold the ceasefire and calls on all parties to de-escalate to preserve peace. The organization has also transmitted messages through Arab mediators warning they might end the truce if Israeli violations persist unaddressed. The fragile ceasefire remains under severe strain as diplomatic efforts continue, with ongoing international mediation aimed at preventing a broader conflict eruption.
